Dutch Beginners 1

Course information

This course is intended for absolute beginners. During the course you will learn to communicate in Dutch in everyday situations. You will apply and practise your newly-acquired knowledge of the Dutch language in near-realistic situations, such as going shopping, making a telephone call, asking directions and visiting the doctor. Aside from speaking skills, considerable attention is paid to reading skills and writing skills to a lesser extent.

After following the course you will have an active command of approximately 800 to 1,000 words as well as a passive command of approximately 2,000 words. You will also be able to apply the basic rules of the grammar. The four basic skills are practised using excerpts from Dutch texts, grammar exercises and writing assignments.
