UvA Talen adds Diploma in Translation to exam programme

This January, UvA Talen was the first language institute in the Benelux to hold the DipTrans examination. The Diploma in Translation (DipTrans) is meant for anyone who wants to work as a freelance translator (or who is already working as a freelance translator) and who needs a high-level professional translating qualification.

Internationally recognised translation diploma
The Diploma in Translation is an internationally recognised translation certificate developed by the Chartered Institute of Linguists [link], the national sector organisation for language professionals, based in the United Kingdom. The first DipTrans examination was set in 1989, and it has since grown to become the gold standard for translators. The examination is now taken in more than forty countries worldwide.

Translation qualification important for translators
DipTrans is an excellent addition to the UvA Talen examination offering, because UvA Talen is not only a language school, but also a translation agency. Marie Leidler, Manager of the Translation department: ‘A translation qualification is of vital importance if you want to work as a professional translator for a translation agency such as UvA Talen. Our translation agency has ISO 17100:2015 certification so it has specific requirements for its translators and editors. An official translation qualification is one of these.’
