Information coronavirus

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is spreading all over the world. The number of infections is also increasing rapidly in the Netherlands. It is impossible to predict how the spread of the virus will progress in the coming period.

UvA Talen is monitoring the situation closely. When taking measures, we will be following the guidelines of the health services and government authorities. Of course, we will also comply with any restrictions imposed by the University of Amsterdam with regard to gatherings and the use of classrooms.

Follow the advice from the RIVM

We strongly recommend that everyone continues to follow the information from the official, verified channels themselves. In the Netherlands, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) is the designated authority for general information about the coronavirus, how it is spreading in the country and what you can, should and should not do. You can find the latest information on the RIVM website.

As stated above, UvA Talen is following the recommendations and measures of the Municipal Health Service (GGD), the City of Amsterdam and the Dutch government.

What can you do under the current circumstances to prevent the virus from spreading?

The following simple measures can help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

  • Wash your hands regularly (for 20 seconds)
  • Cough and sneeze into your elbow
  • Use paper tissues
  • Do not shake hands
  • Avoid unnecessary physical contact
