UvA Talen visits Museum Vakdagen 2018
On 19 April UvA Talen paid a visit to the Museum Vakdagen in Eindhoven. This was the third edition of the two-day trade fair specially organised for the museum sector in the Netherlands and Flanders. The trade fair was held in the iconic Evoluon building that was originally built to house the Philips Museum.
Trade fair for the museum sector
The Museum Vakdagen is the largest trade fair in the Netherlands for the museum sector, bringing museums into contact with companies that supply museum services, such as fundraising, marketing and technology. The trade fair also attracts suppliers of communication media such as brochures, advertisements and audio tours.
Museum texts and audio tours
As a supplier of multilingual content for museum texts, including audio tours, this was the perfect opportunity for UvA Talen to meet up with existing and new customers. UvA Talen not only writes and translates texts for exhibitions and general museum texts, it also arranges speakers for audio tours. These voice actors are all native speakers skilled in finding the right intonation to bring the translated texts to life.
Creative texts demand a creative translation. The translators and editors at UvA Talen always take care to find the right tone of voice for the text, paying attention to intercultural differences and nuances. This makes the vital difference between an ‘acceptable’ solution and a lively text that not only informs the reader, but also awakens their enthusiasm.
